A new large shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States – the second one in May 2020 and the third one in the current gas year –arrived in the Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda on May 23rd, informs LETA/BNS.

The Japanese-flagged Energy Liberty came from Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass LNG export terminal and brought 155,000 of LNG. According to the vessel tracking websites Marinetraffic.com and Myshiptracking.com, the vessel docked the Lithuanian FSRU Independence on Saturday morning.

"The intensification of LNG imports from the US was determined by the extraordinary situation in the LNG market, when many European gas storage facilities were maximally filled and the cargoes of the US producers were available to market participants at attractive prices," Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil), the LNG terminal operator in Lithuania, said in a statements.

Prior to the arrival of this cargo, the LNG imported from the US accounted for 5.47% of the total amount of imported LNG at the Klaipeda LNG terminal, since the start of the terminal's operations, the company said.
