Liviko celebrates 100 millionth bottle of legendary Vana Tallinn liqueur

Print versionEstonian strong alcohol producer Liviko festively produced the 100 millionth bottle of the legendary Vana Tallinn liqueur on Thursday, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

"I am holding a special, very dignified bottle," said Liviko's board chairman Janek Kalvi when taking off the bottle, covered with crystals, from the production line. The valuable bottle will be placed in Liviko's museum.
The production of the legendary Vana Tallinn liqueur was started in Liviko in September 1960 and over the years it has become the most famous Estonian alcoholic beverage, treated as a sorts of "hard currency" in Soviet times.
The exact composition of the recipe is kept a secret by Liviko, but allegedly it contains rum, caramelised sugars, citruses and spices.
