Recently completed Cyber Security Strategy for the year 2008-2013 will be presented today in State Informatics Centre.

Jaak Aaviksoo.

The strategy that was approved by the Government in the beginning of May was compiled by experts of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and of the State Informatics Centre, writes ETV24/LETA.

The objective of the strategy is to enhance the capacity of the cyberspace to withstand cyber attacks, improve training, develop international co-operation and to amend the relative legislation.

For example, on the basis of the strategy, by the year 2013 a three-stage system of cyber security measures will be elaborated for the critical information infrastructure. Another objective is to increase the proportion of courses on information security in higher education establishments by half by the year 2013.

Minister of defence Jaak Aaviksoo stated that the strategy promotes responsible use of IT innovations and implementation of culture of security of the cyberspace not only in Estonia, but in other countries as well. He estimated that similarly to traffic culture, cyber culture is also needed which would morally condemn abuses of information systems.
