Ilmars Poikans, the 31-year-old researcher at the AI Laboratory of the University of Latvia's Institute of Mathematics and Information Sciences who was detained yesterday on suspicion of leaking State Revenue Service (SRS) data, has admitted that he is the notorious hacker known to the public as ''Neo'', LETA has found out.

In the criminal process started against him by the State Police, Poikans will be defended by former Corruption Prevention Bureau chief and attorney Aleksejs Loskutovs.
As Loskutovs told LETA, Poikans has admitted to leaking SRS data, but it remains unclear whether he has committed some sort of crime.
At the moment, it is not yet known whether Poikans will be held in custody as a security measure, Loskutovs told LETA.
As reported, "Neo" the cyber-vigilante who heads the activist group "Fourth National Reawakening Army" (4ATA), which recently regularly made public salaries at state and municipal institutions and companies on the Internet, was arrested earlier in the week.
