In 2014, the largest number of foreign tourists staying in Lithuanian hotels came from Russia
In 2014, the accommodation establishments of Lithuania received 2.4 million tourists, which is by 8.2% more than in 2013. Hotels received 1.8 million, rest establishments – 97.7 thousand, sanatoriums and rehabilitation centres – 110.9 thousand tourists.
In 2014, accommodation establishments received 1.3 million foreign tourists. Compared to 2013, their number grew by 7.7%. More than 57% of foreign tourists stayed in Vilnius accommodation establishments.
In 2014, the largest number of foreign tourists staying in the accommodation establishments of Lithuania came from Russia (222.2 thousand); compared to 2013, their number decreased by 8.8%.

In 2014, compared to 2013, the number of tourists from the European Union (EU) staying in the accommodation establishments of Lithuania grew by 6.2% and reached 707.8 thousand (53% of all the foreigners accommodated). The largest proportion thereof were from Germany (162.1 thousand), Poland (117.5 thousand), Latvia (104.8 thousand), and Estonia (47.5 thousand).
In 2014, the trips of arriving foreigners amounted to 5.2 million, which is by 0.9% less than in 2013. In 2014, compared to 2013, the number of residents' trips abroad increased by 3.6% and stood at 4.7 million. Most arriving foreigners (80.7%) and departing residents (71.7%) used road transport. The most popular was the summer season, when the proportion of trips made up about 33% of the total number of trips.
In 2014, the trips of foreign same-day visitors to Lithuania made up 60.5%, overnight trips – 39.5%. Same-day trips of Lithuanian residents abroad made up 53.8%, overnight trips – 46.2%. In 2014, most foreign visitors and most Lithuanian residents were travelling in July and August.
In 2014, the number of Lithuanian residents travelling abroad with one or more overnight stays amounted to 1.8 million and, compared to 2013, increased by 1.4%. The distribution of trips by country visited was as follows: Latvia – 13% (86% – personal, 14% – business), United Kingdom – 11.6% (91% – personal, 9% – business), Belarus – 9.9% (74% – personal, 26% – business), Poland – 7.8% (76% – personal, 24% – business), Germany – 6.5 (71% – personal, 29% – business), Russia – 5% (50% – personal, 50% – business).
