Latvia records EU's sharpest fall in construction output volume in Q1

Construction output volume in Latvia reduced 43.4% in the first quarter year-on-year, with Latvia registering the biggest fall among all European Union member states, the EU statistical office Eurostat informs.
Construction output in Lithuania dropped 42.9%, whereas Bulgaria recorded a 25.9% fall, writes LETA.
Construction output volume of the entire EU decreased 6.5%, including a 9.6% fall in eurozone countries.
Only Sweden and Great Britain reported increases in construction output in the first quarter – 3.9% and 5%, respectively.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2009, construction output in Latvia fell 1%.
For the entire EU, the decrease was 1.9%, and even 4.2% in the euro area.
