Number of jobless in Estonia fell by 23,000 in 5 months

According to the Estonian Social Ministry, registered jobless has fallen for five months in a row and the number of registered jobless has fallen in that time by nearly 23,000 people, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

72,314 people had been registered as unemployed in the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund offices as of Friday. The number of registered jobless fell in a week by 1,130, which means that the registered jobless rate is 11.1%.

 

Social Minister Hanno Pevkur said that in autumn, the number of seasonal jobs will start decreasing but since the academic year started, a part of young people who were jobless now are achieve with studies. He said that he hopes registered jobless will continue falling but warned we have to be ready for some increase too.

 

The registered jobless rate was the highest this year in Estonia on the 12th week, i.e. as of March 25, 95,244 people were then registered as jobless and unemployment rate was 14.6%.
