Estonia registers EU's largest increase in retail trade turnover in April

In April 2011, compared to April 2010, Latvia's registered the European Union's (EU) third smallest reduction in retail trade turnover – 1.1%, according to the EU statistical bureau Eurostat data. The largest increase in retail trade turnover in the EU in April was registered in Estonia – by 9.5%, Luxembourg – by 9.4%, and Lithuania – by 7.3%.

Retail trade turnover reduced in eight EU countries, but increased in 13.

 

On the other hand, Malta registered the largest reduction in retail trade turnover in April – by 8%, followed by Romania – by 6.3%, and Portugal – by 4%, writes LETA.

 

Compared to April 2010, retail trade turnover increased by 1.9% in the EU and 1.1% in the eurozone.

 

On the other hand, compared to the previous month, retail trade turnover increased by 1.1% in the EU and 0.9% in the eurozone.

 

Denmark registered the largest monthly increase in retail trade turnover in April – by 4.3%, followed by Estonia – by 3.3%, and Portugal – by 2.9%.

 

On the other, Malta registered the largest monthly reduction of retail trade turnover in April – by 2.8%, followed by Romania – by 1.8%, and Latvia – by 1%.
