Titanic exhibition breaks Estonian museum visitation record

BC, Tallinn, 02.04.2014.Print version

220,000 people visited the international exhibition "Titanic: story, findings, legends" that was open from November 15 last year to March 31 this year in the Estonian Maritime Museum's Seaplane Harbour museum, breaking all museum records in Estonia, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

No other Estonian museum has had such high number of visitors, said the Seaplane Harbour.

"Naturally we hoped that the interest of visitors towards the Titanic exhibition is high but we could not forecast such audience success," said Seaplane Harbor's CEO Ott Sarapuu.

"Such a high visitors' number at our museum landscape is undoubtedly extraordinary and exceeding or even repeating that would be rather complicated. The number of guests of the Titanic exhibition is proof and acknowledgement that we have offered to the public a world class museum experience," said Maritime Museum director Urmas Dresen.

Estonian Maritime Museums' Seaplane Harbour museum was opened in May 2012 and last year, it had 298,000 visitors.
