Baltic-Nordic ministers of foreign affairs to meet in Pärnu

On Tuesday the ministers of foreign affairs of the Nordic countries and of the Baltic States will convene in Pärnu in order to discuss the situation in Georgia, writes Postimees Online.

 

On Tuesday and on Wednesday the meeting of NB-8 (Nordic-Baltic 8) will take place in Pärnu. The meeting agenda includes discussions on the situation in Georgia and on the relations between the European Union and Russia, the Baltic Sea strategy, issues connected to Afghanistan and EU’s relations with Ukraine and with Moldova.

 

The discussions will also concern the directive of the Nordic Council of Ministers on the co-operation with the Baltic States which, according to plans, will be approved this autumn.

 

Vladimir Jushkin, the director of the Academic Centre of Baltic and Russian studies, will also give a presentation on Russia to the ministers.

 

The NB-8 meetings take place once a year. This year, Estonia is the co-ordinating State of the co-operation on foreign policy between the NB-8 countries.
