Victims of genocide of Lithuanian Jews are commemorated
A commemoration ceremony of the victims of the genocide of the Lithuanian Jews will be held at the Paneriai Memorial on Tuesday afternoon. At the event tribute will be paid to thousands of people killed at the site during the Second World War. The ceremony will be attended by Parliament Speaker Loreta Grauziniene, informs LETA/ELTA.
At the event speeches will be delivered by: Signatory of the Independence Act, Chairman of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania Emanuelis Zingeris, Chancellor of the Government Alminas Maciulis, Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania Amir Maimon, President of the Jewish community of Vilnius in Israel Mickey Kantor, President of the Lithuanian Jewish Community Faina Kukliansky, former prisoner of Vilnius ghetto Fania Brancovskaja.
The commemoration ceremony will be attended by Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, representatives of the Lithuanian Jewish community, foreign ambassadors residing in Lithuania, representatives of state and municipal institutions, schoolchildren from Vilnius schools and the Honour Guard Company of the Armed Forces.
