Vitolins released as head coach of HC Moscow ''Dynamo''
Kontinental Ice Hockey League club Moscow ''Dynamo'' has released its head coach – Latvian specialist Harijs Vitolins, informs LETA.
Vitolins had worked in the ''Dynamo'' system since the 2008/2009 system – when he worked as an assistant for coach Olegs Znaroks at Balashikha MVD, which later merged with ''Dynamo''.
In 2012 and 2013, Moscow ''Dynamo'' triumphed in the KHL under then head coach Znaroks and assistant Vitolins.
Vitolins became the head coach of the club ahead of last season when Znaroks became the head coach of the Russian national ice hockey team.
Vitolins currently serves as an assistant coach on the Russian national team.
The Moscow club has lost five of its past six matches in the KHL, which was the reason for releasing Vitolins, who also worked as an assistant coach for the Latvian national ice hockey team under Znaroks from 2007 to 2011.
''Dynamo'' is currently in 7th place in the KHL's Western Conference standings with 50 points from 45 matches.
