Classical conductor Nelsons to become honorary professor of Latvian Academy of Music

Print versionClassical conductor Andris Nelsons will become an honorary
professor of Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, LETA was told at the
academy.
Nelsons will be presented with the diploma of the academy’s
honorary professor next Monday, October 31.
On August 31, 2016, the Senate of Jazeps Vitols Latvian
Academy of Music conferred the honorary title to Nelsons and Latvian opera soprano
Maija Kovalevska for their contribution to the development of the art of music,
promoting Latvia in the world and inexhaustible creative energy. Both artists
have graduated from Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music.
Earlier this month, President Raimonds Vejonis presented the
Order of the Three Stars to Nelsons and his spouse, opera soprano Kristine
Opolais.
