Latvia's tennis star Alona Ostapenko has parted ways with her Spanish coach Anabel Medina Garrigues, and hired the experienced Australian specialist David Taylor as her coach for a period of 15 weeks, reports LETA.

Medina Garrigues became Ostapenko's coach this past spring and soon after that helped her triumph at the French Open. In October, however, the media reported that Medina Garrigues would become captain of Spain's Fed Cup team in January.

"Our cooperation with Anabel has come to an end and I will not be working with her next season," Ostapenko told reporters on Thursday. "My mom will always be my head coach, but now I've been practicing with Australian David Taylor for two weeks."

Ostapenko's mother Jelena Jakovleva said that Ostapenko and Medina Garrigues parted ways on friendly terms, and that Ostapenko was now coached by Taylor.

The 45-year-old Taylor has worked with such famous tennis players as Martina Hingis, Ana Ivanovic, and Samantha Stosur.
