Latvia has submitted the war drama Blizzard of Souls for this year's Academy Awards, Zane Kaulina, a representative of the National Film Center, informed LETA.

Kaulina said that for the 13th time, Latvia is submitting a film for Academy Award nomination consideration in the Best International Feature Film category.

The panel of experts formed by the National Film Centre made the decision to put forward Blizzard of Souls, a feature directed by Dzintars Dreibergs and this year's winner of Latvia's national film award Lielais Kristaps (Great Christopher) as the best feature film.

Blizzard of Souls is an adaptation of Aleksandrs Grins' novel, which was literally written in the trenches as the author of the novel was a Latvian rifleman in World War I.
