Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas is to participate in the General Affairs & External Relations Council (GAERC) of the EU in Prague on January 7-8, reports ELTA.

The heads of the EU diplomacy will discuss important EU policy issues, such as the energy security and transatlantic cooperation.

According to Usackas, the priorities of the Czech presidency in the EU, especiall the increase of the competitiveness of the European economy and the insurance of energy security, are highly important for Lithuania.

In GAERC, Usackas will strive to win the support of other EU member states and EU institutions for energy projects important for Lithuania.
