Premiere of Latvian National Opera's new production "Elisir d'Amore" tonight
The premiere of Gaetano Donizettti's comic opera "L'elisi d'amore" on the Latvian National Opera stage will take place at 7 p.m. tonight, informs LETA.
The production was staged by an international creative team and soloists are Latvian opera music luminaries, along with internationally acclaimed opera singers from abroad.
Director of the new production is Guy Montavon, artistic director of the Theater Erfurt in Germany, who has worked for numerous opera houses around the globe, including New York Metropolitan. Last year, Guy Montavon was awarded the France's Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres Order.
Hank Irwin Kittel, the set and costume designer for the show, is the head artist at the Theater Erfurt; he is also an acclaimed painter and installations' artist, whose works have been exhibited in numerous cities all around the world.
Other members of the show's creative team are lighting designer Martins Feldmanis, dramaturge Jochen Breiholz, choreographer Elita Bukovska and make-up artist Vivita Jansone.
Cast: Marina Rebeka, Kristine Gailite, Inga Slubovska, Dmytro Popov, Andris Kannins, Janis Apeinis, Armands Silins, Raimonds Bramanis, Krisjanis Norvelis, Sergejs Martinovs, Evija Martinsone, Inga Slubovska.
The plot describes events at a pasta factory in Italy in the 1950's, when perfect looks are crucial and sensuality reigns above all.
"L'elisir d'Amore" is opera in two acts.
The show's premiere will take place at 7 p.m. tonight; following shows: on February 13, 15, 17; March 31, April 3 and June 5 and 13.
