On Tuesday, solemn initiation ceremony for Arvydas Pocius as Commander of the Armed Forces is to be held in Lithuania, informs ELTA/LETA.

First of all Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite is to promote the newly designated Commander of the Armed Forces, Arvydas Pocius, to the rank of major general in the Presidential Office. At the square in front of the National Defence Ministry, new Commander of the Armed Forces Pocius will be honored by the soldiers of the Honorary Guard Company of the Lithuanian Army, squads representing army forces with their flags and Armed Air Forces orchestra.

The ceremony is to be attended by National Defence Minister Rasa Jukneviciene, other representatives of the ministry and army leaderships as well as the representatives on institutions ensuring interior security, defence attaches of foreign countries residing in Lithuania and other guests.
