Latvian theatre director wins "Golden Mask" award in Moscow

Latvian theatre director Alvis Hermanis has won a prestigious "Golden Mask" theatre award in Moscow for his production "Shukshin's Stories", informs RIA Novosti/LETA.

Hermanis' production, which was shown at Moscow's Theatre of Nations, won the award for "Best Large-Scale Drama Production".

Actor Yevgeny Mironov and costume designer Viktoria Sevryukova also won awards in their respective categories for their contributions to the play.

Hermanis' work is an theatrical adaptation of stories by Russian writer and film director Vasily Shukshin.
