Barroso said in Brussels after meeting with Ansip that Estonia’s wish to join is a clear example of how important the euro is.

Barroso acknowledged Estonia’s economic policies during the “turbulence” and expressed hope that the economic and financial political decision made last year would help Estonia to reach its goal.

Ansip confirmed at the meeting with the press that Estonia aims to join a strong euro area which is based on equal treatment of all candidate states and them fulfilling the conditions of joining the euro currency.

Ansip said that Estonia will continue conservative monetary policies and hopes to join the euro area on January 1, 2011.

Andrus Ansip participates at the two-day European Council meeting in Brussels that is dedicated to the new European economic growth and employment strategy Europe 2020.

Estonia will propose the idea of common e-services room at the meeting, where public e-services and digital business services are easily and safely usable to citizens and businesses of member states.
