Print versionDue to financial hardships, Portugal will close its embassy in Riga on December 31, LETA was informed by the Portuguese Embassy in Riga.

Portugal also intends to close its embassies in Lithuania and Estonia, as well as several other countries.
The Portuguese Embassy in Riga currently employs two Latvian citizen, who will thus lose their jobs.
At the moment, Portugal does not have an accredited ambassador in Latvia, as the previous ambassador was not replaced with a new one.
