40 Latvian municipalities to provide aid to Ukraine

Print versionSeveral dozen local governments have responded to an appeal by the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments to provide aid to Ukrainian local governments, LETA learned from the association.

So far, forty municipalities have said that they are prepared to allot a total of EUR 26,000 to help the Ukrainian local governments.
In addition, several local government members have said they are ready to provide individual aid to Ukraine by transferring funds to the Latvian Red Cross's bank account. Several local governments have also organized various events to raise funds for Ukraine.
Earlier this summer, the Local and Regional Governments' Association signed agreement with the Red Cross on organizing humanitarian aid for the local governments in Ukraine – the war hospital in the Chernihiv province and other healthcare institutions.
