European Humanities University graduated BA and MA classes of 2010
It has been the second BA and forth MA class since the European Humanities University was re-located in Vilnius in 2005.
Rector Anatoli Mikhailov congratulated the graduates and on behalf of all university community he thanked everyone who has ever contributed to the development of EHU. “Due to continuous support of hospitable Lithuania and active participation of international community, the university has successfully spread its mission since its foundation in Minsk in 1992.”
In his keynote address, Minister G. Steponavičius stated that the EHU’s mission in developing the idea of liberal arts has a very special meaning for the post-Soviet bloc countries, where liberal arts and social sciences represented the most ideologically constrained area of research. “The society that underwent major changes needs to analyze these political and social turning points and gain an insight into this important stage of development, which helps understand or determine its further directions.”
The European Humanities University (EHU) was founded in Minsk in 1992 and closed by authorities in 2004. It re-launched activities in Vilnius in 2005 and was granted the status of a Lithuanian university in 2006.
Currently, EHU is the only Belarusian University committed to academic freedom and the process of integrating a European higher education on BA and MA levels. The University offers quality liberal education and research. Students can choose either face-to-face or low-residence modes of study. EHU aims to become a part of the international academic network, thereby reaching out to other universities for constructive cooperation.
With the support of close international cooperation, the University created academic programs and research projects that enable Belarusian students and teachers to pursue knowledge, think critically and develop skills otherwise less accessible in Belarus itself. The growing reputation of EHU has rapidly brought it into collaboration with some well-known European and American universities, distinguished for their quality of education and academic life.
