Queen Silvia popularizes mentoring movement in Latvia

Queen Silvia of Sweden participated in "Mentor Latvia" seminar "Investing in Youth, the Future of Latvia". |
The queen is an honorary member of the International Mentor Foundation, which focuses on preventing drug abuse.
Queen Silvia said she was glad to see Latvia becoming an active mentor community member. She pointed out that "Mentor Latvia" can make important and sustainable contribution to the country's development. Queen Silvia hopes that young people will become healthy and active global community members, explaining that mentors try to create a future where young people will have goals, and eradicate drug abuse.
A mentor is a neutral adult with whom a young person can safely speak, ask for advice and help. Mentors ensure that young people overcome obstacles. There are people who invest their money and there are also those who invest their hearts, which is also a contribution to the country's future, said the queen.
