Short story "Fragmentation, or Ten Thousand Goodbyes" by the Latvian author Toms Kreicbergs (Tom Crosshill) has been nominated for a Nebula Award, informs BC/ Latvian Institute.

It’s his second nomination for this prestigious award in the short story category. His first story to gain attention from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFFWA) was "Mama, We are Zhenya, Your Son".

Every year, the members of the SFFWA vote on the best works of science fiction and fantasy released in the previous year.

Winners will be announced at the Nebula Awards weekend May 16-19th, 2013, in San Jose at the San Jose Hilton.

Since winning the Writers of the Future Contest in 2009, Kreicbergs has sold stories to such magazines as Clarkesworld, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and Lightspeed.

His work has also been nominated for the Latvian Annual Literature Award, Best Debut. He is currently working on a novel and numerous short stories.

After many years spent in Oregon and New York, Kreicbergs has recently returned to his native Latvia to write full time.
