Klaipedos Nafta to develop LNG use standards jointly with Spain's GASNAM

Lithuania's energy terminals operator Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil) and the Spanish Association of Natural Gas for Mobility, GASNAM, have agreed to cooperate in developing standards for the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which Europe does not have now, informs LETA/BNS.

The operator of the Klaipeda LNG terminal said on Monday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with GASNAM on cooperation in standardizing the use of LNG and regulating the supply of LNG as fuel for ships or transport of LNG by tank trucks.

"It is only natural for us to become a partner of the organization, which brings together gas market participants, because we can share our experience with international market players and standardize certain processes together with them," Mantas Bartuska, CEO of the state-controlled company, said in a press release.

Klaipedos Nafta plans to build a LNG reloading station, estimated to cost 27 million euros, by early 2017 and to offer LNG bunkering and truck loading services to customers in the Baltic countries and Poland.

The company is developing the LNG distribution station project together with Germany's LNG supplier Bomin Linde LNG.
