Organizers of the electronic petition "No for Construction of Belarus Nuclear Power Plant near Vilnius" have submitted a sheet with almost 22,000 signatures of residents to the Government.
Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius and responsible authorities are once and again urged to take all possible measures to counter the planned construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant with experimental VVER 1200-type nuclear reactors near Vilnius, informs LETA/ELTA.
On Wednesday, March 31, the deadline for the reasonable proposals of the public on the documents of the plant's environmental impact expires. The planned nuclear power plant is intended to be built in Ostrow, 23 kilometers from the Lithuanian border and 55 kilometers from Vilnius.
