The European Commission announced that Estonia, the Czech republic, Poland, Greece and Austria closed temporarily the pollution quota trading registry, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

“Estonia closed its registry yesterday, after being informed of pollution quota that disappeared from an account in the Czech registry, in order to prevent future incidents,” environment ministry climate and radiation department specialist Jürgen Talkop told National Broadcasting’s news portal.

The European Commission also suspended last night temporarily the pollution quota trading transactions of all EU states’ registries, temporarily closing the registry.

“Tomorrow, climate committee meeting will take place in Brussels where the topic will be discussed. We also hope to get some clarity tomorrow when and on what basis the registries will be opened again,” said Talkop.

EU pollution quota move via registries but transactions are confidential.
