BC, Vilnius, 23.08.2013.Print version
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Krisciunas met with Belarusian Ambassador to Lithuania Vladimir Drazhin on August 22 in Vilnius. Krisciunas encouraged Belarus to keep to the international commitments and to seek for the constructive and correct dialogue while implementing the project of the Astravas nuclear power plant (NPP), reported LETA/ ELTA.
"It is unwarrantable to make the compromises for account of the nuclear safety. Current hurry which cannot be explained is not acceptable and the implementation of the international commitments including the Espoo Convention cannot be only formal," said Krisciunas.
The deputy minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the main Lithuania's aim was the security of the Astravas NPP and Lithuania was to gradually reach it because the outcomes of the implementation of the project could be felt not only by the citizens of Belarus but Lithuania's citizens as well.
