Estonian government allocates 4.75 bln kroons to municipalities

The Estonian government approved on Thursday of allocating 4.75 bln kroons to local municipalities, of which 1.1 bln kroons goes to the municipalities’ balancing fund, LETA/Postimees Online reports.
The balancing fund, meant to balance development possibilities of municipalities, is distributed between 183 municipalities, the biggest recipients being Narva, Kohtla-Järve, Valga and Pärnu.
3.1 bln kroons allocated by the government is meant for education expenses this year. The city of Tallinn gets the biggest support.
350 mln kroons is planned for paying subnistence support this year. 120 mln kroons is earmarked to stabilise income base of municipalities.
