"Nobody had any doubts about the resolution, determination to fight and commitment of the National Team of Lithuania. Our sportsmen deserved gold. So we award it along with the best wishes to qualify for 2012 Summer Olympics in London and to win the highest prizes there", the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Vitas Vasiliauskas said.

The team was gifted the gold coins, which were among the last ones held by the Bank of Lithuania, as 5,000 pieces of the newly issued 50 litas gold coins were sold out very fast.
