Latvian Architecture Award 2016 Grand Prix goes to National Museum of Art reconstruction project

The winners of the Latvian Architecture Awards this year are Liepaja culture center Lielais Dzintars designed by Austrian architect Volker Giencke, Dzintari Concert Hall reconstruction project designed by Jaunromans Un Abele, and Malta High School reconstruction project by Saals.
In total, 51 projects participated in the competition. Projects shortlisted for semifinals were evaluated by an international jury made up of Peeter Loo (Estonia), Marius Saliamoras (Lithuania), Ewa Kurylowicz (Poland) and Tamar Shafrir (Israel/Netherlands).
The Latvian Architecture Awards is an annual national competition with the aim of identifying and promoting the best accomplishments of Latvian architecture and stimulating the development of quality architecture. It is the largest event in Latvian architecture, recognized as a nationally significant occasion and the award itself is the highest accolade in Latvian architecture.
