BC, Vilnius, 25.05.2016.Print version
Uber, a US-based international ride-sharing network that launched operations in Lithuania last fall, opened an engineering center and a ride-sharing services support unit in Vilnius on May 25th. The sum invested in the center is withheld, reports LETA/BNS.
"After operating in Lithuania for six months, we're today opening a new bureau, which will accommodate the support unit and 20 engineers who will provide services to Uber worldwide. By the end of the year, we have an ambitious plan of doubling the number of employees," Vytautas Cerniauskas, Uber operations and logistics chief, told a Vilnius news conference.
The Lithuanian unit will create, develop and support digital technologies behind the Uber app, which is used in 70 countries across and more than 400 cities around the world.
The Uber center in Vilnius is the second of the type in Europe, with another operating in Denmark. Uber was launched in Lithuania in the fall of 2015.
