Lattelecom and LTV gain exclusive six-year broadcast rights in Latvia to the IIIHF Ice Hockey World Championship
This collaboration will offer the best broadcasts
throughout the main IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship events including all games,
interviews, backstage events and other content related to the tournament. Lattelecom will present a special TV
hockey channel and offer HD-quality content in both Latvian and Russian
languages.
"This is an excellent way to promote a great
partnership between public service broadcasters and business. The result will
be high-quality broadcasts available to television viewers in Latvia in its
best possible form and scale ever. Lattelecom
is also proud to offer for the first time in Latvia a HD-TV hockey channel
operating 24/7 allowing viewers to watch all the games of the tournament,"
said Juris Gulbis, CEO at Lattelecom.
"IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is important
to many viewers in Latvia. Therefore, it is our main duty to offer event
screenings without any additional charge for our content use. In Latvia, the
tournament is a celebration for many Latvian viewers, sports enthusiasts and
fans, and it shows great support for Latvian hockey. This is why we are glad
that the cooperation between LTV and Lattelecom
will continue to ensure such a service,” said Ivars Belte, CEO at Latvian Television.
Besides all games, the collaboration between Lattelecom and LTV will offer exclusive
social media content, interviews, games highlights and other content offered by
professional sports journalists at LTV.
Channel 7 at LTV will broadcast live
evening hockey games as well as day games with the Latvian hockey team. All
games will be available in HD quality exclusively at Lattelecom television’s special IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship channel and channel 360TV. Furthermore, Lattelecom will be the only operator offering game broadcasts with
a selection of Latvian or Russian commentary.
The collaboration between LTV and Lattelecom was brokered by Infront
Sports & Media, the exclusive media and marketing partner of the International
Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. It will
therefore allow broadcasts from 2018 until 2023. The 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World
Championship will be held in Denmark.
