Vilnius is hosting a Lithuanian-Dutch energy forum on Friday, with 150 business representatives from the two countries are discussing new opportunities for cooperation in the areas of LNG and renewable energy. The forum was on Friday opened by President Dalia Grybauskaite and visiting King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

The forum's participants include representatives of Dutch companies Shell, Gasunie and Nuon Vattenval and Lithuanian companies Klaipedos Nafta, Lietuvos Energija, Litgrid, BaltPool and Achema.

According to the Lithuanian presidential office, the Netherlands, having developed a strong LNG sector, want to promote the use of LNG among European transport and industry companies and households. And the Dutch consider the Klaipeda-based LNG terminal a gate for Dutch companies into the whole Baltic Sea region.
