During a beer-testing event at Bauska brewery last weekend, ten Latvian beer brands received high marks, as Latvian Beer Brewers Association's Executive Director Peteris Linins informed LETA.

"Aldara dumaku" (produced by Aldaris), "Cesu Premium" (Cesu alus), "Bavarijas" (Alus nams), "Livu tradicionalais" ("Lacplesa alus daritava"), "Piebalgas alus" (SIA Piebalgas alus), "Bralis gaisais nefiltretais" (Alus nams), "Livu nefiltretais" (Lacplesa alus daritava), "Bralis tumsais nefiltretais" (Alus nams), "Bauskas tumsais Specialais" (Bauskas alus), "Bauskas tumsais Premium" (Bauskas alus) were named outstanding beer brands.

Experts from eight Latvia's top breweries participated in the beer-tasting event: Aldaris, Cesu alus, Lacplesa alus daritava, Bauskas alus, "Zaksi", Piebalgas alus, Valmiermuizas alus and Alus nams.

22 beer brands in three groups were registered for the competition – lager, dark beer and unfiltered beer. The jury was headed by professional brew-masters Karlis Zalitis and Astrida Rusko.

Last year, no lager beer brand received the "outstanding" mark, but two Bauskas alus dark beer brands and "Porteris" by Aldaris did receive the honor, as well as "Uzavas" beer and "Bralis" beer by Alus nams in the draught beer category.
