Occupancy at Latvian hotels increased by 6% in Q1

In the first three months of 2011, compared to the first quarter of 2010, occupancy at Latvian hotels and other accommodation establishments increased by 6%, according to data from the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association.

The association's CEO Santa Graikste points out that the average occupancy of Riga's accommodation establishments increased 5.9% and reached 39.8% in the first quarter of 2011, writes LETA.

 

The average occupancy of Latvian accommodation establishments increased 6.6% to 34.5%.

 

This past March, compared to March 2010, the occupancy figure in Riga's accommodation establishments increased 6.3% and reached 42.7%. Occupancy in Latvian accommodation establishments grew 6.8% to 36.9%.

 

In February, occupancy in Riga's and Latvian accommodation establishments increased around 5% to 37.4% and 33.6% respectively.

 

In January, occupancy in Riga's and Latvian accommodation establishments grew around 7% and reached 39.3% and 32.9% respectively.

 

As reported, the number of guests in hotels and other accommodation establishments in Latvia increased 17.7% last year, according to the Central Statistical Bureau's data.

 

1.31 million guests stayed in Latvian hotels in 2010, which is more than in 2009, when 1.11 million guests stayed in Latvian hotels.

 

The number of Latvian guests has increased 20.5% reaching 493,764, while the number of foreign guests grew 16.4% and amounted to 877,774 guests last year.

 

In 2010, the occupancy rates of Latvian hotels increased by 5.74%.

 

According to the association's data, the average occupancy rate of Latvian hotels was 41.32% last year, compared to 35.58% in 2009.
