Lithuania records EU's steepest increase in retail trade turnover in October

Retail trade turnover in Latvia in October 2011 increased by 4.9% from the same month in 2010, which was the third largest increase across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat. Lithuania registered the steepest annual increase, and retail trade turnover in Estonia grew by 4%.

Lithuania registered the steepest annual increase in retail trade turnover in October – 9.5%, followed by Luxembourg – 8.9%, reports LETA.

 

On the other hand, Portugal registered the largest reduction in retail trade turnover in October – 9.7%, followed by Spain – 6.8%, and Denmark – 5.9%.

 

During the same period, retail trade turnover in Estonia grew by 4%.

 

Retail trade turnover increased in 11 EU countries, but decreased in ten.

 

Compared to October 2010, retail trade turnover remained unchanged in the EU, and reduced 0.4% in the eurozone.

 

Compared to this past September, retail trade turnover rose 0.4% in the EU and the eurozone.

 

Retail trade turnover grew in 11 EU countries and reduced in ten.

 

Malta registered the largest monthly increase in retail trade turnover in October – 3.7%, Romania – 2%, and Poland – 1.4%.

 

At the same time, Portugal registered the largest monthly reduction of retail trade turnover in October – 3.3%, followed by Latvia – 2.9%, and Denmark – 2%.

 

Retail trade turnover in Lithuania and Estonia reduced 1.3% and 0.4% respectively.
