Estonian state-owned postal company Eesti Post announced that with the Post24 self-service parcel terminals network it officially opens in Latvia on Thursday, it creates favorable grounds for growth of e-commerce across the Baltic States, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

29 new generation parcel terminals have been installed across Latvia where parcels between the Baltic State can be sent.

"We can now say boldly and with pride that Eesti Post has Eastern Europe's largest parcel terminals network," said Eesti Post board chairman Aavo Kärmas.

Kärmas said that with this step, Eesti Post creates favorable grounds for growth of e-commerce across the Baltic States.

"The volume of e-commerce grows in a stable way and will soon exceed the traditional commerce trade growth rate – by the year 2016, the volume is expected to double," said Kärmas.

Post24 has 122 parcel terminals across the Baltic States. The network is unique as it is possible to send and receive parcels inside one country or between the three Baltic States.
