On Friday, Brazil has concluded an audit by which it assessed preparation of Lithuanian producers to export its fisheries products, informs LETA/ELTA.

The audit conducted by Brazilians assessed the state control of Lithuanian fisheries products. Laboratory testing on traces of harmful substances and pollutants was conducted at the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute. Fish processing plants that intend to export production to Brazil were also tested.

Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) Jonas Milius said that the conclusions regarding Lithuanian fisheries product exports were positive.

"Brazilian auditors positively assessed VMVT state control, acknowledged that our specialists' actions are organized and highly professional. Brazilian representatives were impressed by the modern laboratory equipment and testing methods at the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute," said Milius.

Official report should be submitted for consideration in 60 days upon completion of inspection. After the final report is announced and veterinary certificates are adapted it will be possible to export Lithuanian fishery products to Brazil.
