UST LUGA is a priority project of Russian
ports capacity in the Baltic Sea Region. Here, the turnover during the period
from January to October 2014 amounted to 62.8
million tons, while the growth made as much as 21.9% or 11.3 million tons
comparing with the period from January to October 2013.
Oil products, crude oil and coal make as much as 90.4% of the port’s cargo.
- Oil products – 21,044.4 thousand tons handled, +64.9% or +8,283.4 thousand tons;
- Crude oil – 19,702.5 thousand tons handled, +1.6% or +310.0 thousand tons;
- Coal – 16,000.4 thousand tons handled, +4.8% or +738.2 thousand tons.
Other cargo that conditioned the total growth
of the port’s turnover:
- ro-ro cargos – 1,430.5 thousand tons handled, +28,7% or +318.8 thousand tons;
- new cargo – liquefied natural gas, 935.3 thousand tons handled.
ST.PETERSBURG PORT. During the period from January to October
2014, 51.3 million tons of cargo
were handled, i.e. 6.5% or 3.1 million tons more than during the same period in
2013.
- Containerized cargo – 19,949.0 thousand tons handled, +3.1% or +607.8 thousand tons;
- oil products – 12,166.7 thousand tons handled, +3.9% or +458.4 thousand tons handled.
Other cargos conditioning total port’s turnover:
- fertilizers –6,344.7 thousand tons handled, +30.5% or +1,481.8 thousand tons;
- metals – 4,755.1 thousand tons handled, +2.3% or +104.7 thousand tons;
- scrap metal –1,912.4 thousand tons handled, +76.2% or +827.2 thousand tons.
PORT OF PRIMORSK. During the period from January to October 2014, 46.0 million tons of products were handled, i.e. 14.3% or 7.7 million tons less than during the same period last year.
The Russian centre of crude oil and oil products export:
- crude oil – 36,723.7 thousand tons handled, 20.2% or 9,301.5 thousand tons less;
- oil products – 9,297.3 thousand tons handled, +20.8% or +1,599.0 thousand tons.
PORT OF VYSOCK. 14.9 million tons of cargo handled, 10.4% or 1.4 million tons more than during the period from January to October 2013.
Here, only two types of cargo are handled:
- oil products – 10,457.8 thousand tons handled, +9,7% or +924,0 thousand tons);
- coal - 4 018,6 thousand tons handled, +12,0% or +481,3 thousand tons.
PORT OF KALININGRAD. Total of 11.6 million tons of cargo were handled, which is 2.5% or 281.6 thousand tons more than during the period from January to October 2013:
- grain – 2,295.6 thousand tons handled, +243.4% or +1,627.2 thousand tons;
- oil products –1,694.2 thousand tons handled, -44.0% or -1,329.9 thousand tons;
- ro-ro cargos –1,440.1 thousand tons handled, +80.2% or +641.1 thousand tons;
- containerized cargo –1,106.9 thousand tons handled, +2.6% or +28.4 thousand tons.
PORT OF VYBORG. 1.4 million tons of cargo were handled, which is 17.3% or 205.2 thousand tons more than during the period from January to October 2013.
Cargos handled here:
- coal – 521,2 thousand tons handled, +26.6% or +109.6 thousand tons;
- fertilizers – 521.2 thousand tons handled, +7.6% or +36.7 thousand tons;
- other cargo – 352.2 thousand tons handled.
In October 2014, Klaipėda Port cargo turnover has grown by 24.3%: total of 3,652.8 thousand tons (including LNG – 48.6 thousand tons) were handled, i.e. 713.6 thousand tons more than in October 2013.
This is an absolute one month cargo handling operations record in the history of Klaipėda Port. Previous record was documented in October 2011 and amounted to 3,298.2 thousand tons.
In the period January to October 2014, Klaipėda Port’s cargo turnover has increased by 7.3%: total of 30.1 million tons handled, i.e. 2.0 million tons more than during the same period last year.
Such growth in Klaipėda Port’s handling volumes was
mostly conditioned by a 42.7% growth in fertilizers handling operations: total of 10.2 thousand tons
handled or 3.0 thousand tons more than in January to October 2013.
Other cargos that conditioned the handling volumes in January to October 2014:
- containerized cargo – 4,656.0 thousand tons handled, i.e. +21.9% or +836.5 thousand tons;
- agricultural products – 2,658.3 thousand tons handled (including grain – 2,135.4 thousand tons, +26.2%), i.e. +7.7% or +190.3 thousand tons;
- ore – 984.5 thousand tons handled, i.e. +23.4% or +186.4 thousand tons.
The amount of bulk
goods accounting for 48% of cargo handling volume in Klaipėda Port, in January to October 2014 was growing rapidly – 14.3 million tons handled,
which is 23.2% or 2.3 million tons more than in January to October 2013.
- bulk fertilizers – 8,787.0 thousand tons handled, +56.3% or +3,165.5 thousand tons;
- agricultural products – 2,658.3 thousand tons handled (including grain – 2,135.4 thousand tons, +26.2%), i.e. +7.7% or +190.3 thousand tons;
- ore – 984.5 thousand tons handled, +23.4% or +186.4 thousand tons;
- scrap metal – 418.1 thousand tons handled, +69.4% or +171.3 thousand tons.
Liquefied cargo handling accounting for 20% cargo handling volume in the port, in January to October 2014, comparing with the same period last year, decreased noticeably – total volume of liquefied cargo amounted to 6.2 million tons (the change made -19.7% or -1.5 million tons).
Volume of main cargo:
- oil products – 4,848.4 thousand tons handled, 22.3% or 1,390.2 thousand tons less;
- liquefied fertilizers (974,8 thousand tons handled, 14.6% or 166.4 thousand tons);
General cargo accounting for 32% of cargo handling volume in Klaipėda Port, in January to October 2014 have grown by 7.4% or 658.0 thousand tons – 9.6 million tons handled.
Volume of main cargo:
- containerized cargo – 4,656.0 thousand tons handled, +21.9% or +836.5 thousand tons;
- ro-ro cargos – 3,678.2 thousand tons handled, 6.0% or 233.0 thousand tons less;
- packed fertilizers – 406,4 thousand tons handled, +12.5% or +45.2 thousand tons.
In January to October 2014, Klaipėda Port and Būtingė Terminal was visited by 5,687 vessels, including 59 vessels that moored in Būtingė Terminal and 5,628 vessels that moored in Klaipėda Port (1.3% or 77 vessels less comparing with January to October 2013).
During the analyzed period, 313,276 passengers have visited, i.e. 23.7% or 60,003 passengers more than in January to October 2013.
Cruise navigation. In October 2014, the cruise season in Klaipėda Port was finished with a record. In January to October 2014, Klaipėdą was visited as much as 57,797 passengers, which is an absolute record in the history of Klaipėda Port (growth of as much as 76.4% or 25,040 passengers more than in 2013). 63 cruise vessels have moored, i.e. 57.5% or 23 vessels more than in 2013.
It is worth to also note the record 317 m long cruise giant Celebrity Eclipse that has visited Klaipėda in June 2014.
PORT OF TALLINN. 23.6 million tons of cargo were handled, which is 0/6% or 141.5 thousand tons less than during the period from January to October 2013.
- oil products – 15,815.5 thousand tons handled, -1.1% or -171.2 thousand tons;
- ro-ro cargos – 3,374.5 thousand tons handled, +9.1% or +281.1 thousand tons;
- containerized cargos – 1,660.8 thousand tons handled, +12.6% or +185.2 thousand tons;
- fertilizers – 1,255.1 thousand tons handled, 13.2% or 190.3 thousand tons less.
Passenger transportation. The united Port of Tallinn has serviced 8,199.0 thousand passengers, i.e. 4.7% or 371.0 thousand passengers more than during the same period of 2013.
Ships. 5,800 ships have entered the Port of Tallinn, i.e. 5 ships or 0.1% less comparing with the period from January to October 2013.
PORT OF RIGA. During the period from January to October 2014, a rapid growth of cargoes (as much as 14.0%) was noted - total of 33.6 million tons were handled (a change of +4.1 million tons).
Such growth was mostly influenced by:
- The best port’s cargo – coal - 12,298.5 thousand tons handled, +6,8% or +781,5 thousand tons;
- oil products handling which has rapidly increased by as much as 36.5% – 8,198.0 thousand tons handled (a change of +2,190.5 thousand tons). Such growth was conditioned by investment in new oil products storages, other objects of infrastructure, port dredging (the port is servicing tankers of up to 14.7 m in draught), which allowed oil companies attracting new customers to the Port of Riga;
- Fertilizers – 2,065.7 thousand tons handled (a change of +70.9% or +856.7 thousand tons). This was conditioned by the new Riga fertilizer terminal that has actively started its operation.
Other cargo conditioning total port’s turnover:
- Containerized cargos - 3,435.0 thousand tons handled (a change of +5.6% or +180.9 thousand tons).
- wood and forestry products – 2,450.2 thousand tons handled, i.e. -11.2% or -308.9 thousand tons less.
Passenger transportation. During the period from January to October 2014, Riga Port was visited by 662.0 thousand passengers (a change of -8.7% or -63.1 thousand passengers), including 59,520 passengers of cruisers.
PORT OF VENTSPILS. During the period from January to October 2014, 22.4 million tons of cargo were handled, the change made -7.3% or -1.8 million tons.
- oil products – 12,616.0 thousand tons handled, -6.4% or -859.0 thousand tons;
- coal – 5,303.0 thousand tons handled, -12.4% or -750.0 thousand tons;
- ro-ro cargos – 1,578.0 thousand tons handled, -0.8% or -12.0 thousand tons;
- fertilizers – 1,384.0 thousand tons handled, +18.4% or +215.0 thousand tons.
Passenger transportation. The Port of Ventspils was visited by 71,501 passengers, i.e. 37.3% or 19,440 passengers more than during the period from January to October 2013.
Ships. Total of 1,284 ships have entered, a change of -12.0% or -175 ships.
PORT OF LIEPAJA. During the period from January to August 2014, 4.3 million tons of cargo were handled (a change of +7.9% or +314.7 thousand tons).
- grain – 2,132.0 thousand tons handled, +46.1% or +672.5 thousand tons;
- ro-ro cargos – 659.1 thousand tons handled, +10.2% or +61.1 thousand tons);
- construction materials – 454.7 thousand tons handled, +15.8% or +61.9 thousand ton;
- wood and forestry products – 426.9 thousand tons handled, 28.3% or 168.4 thousand tons less.
Passenger transportation. 36,215 passengers have visited the port, i.e. 2.0% or 807 passenger less.
Ships. During the period from January to October 2014, 1.145 ships have moored in the Port of Liepaja, i.e. 6.0% or 63 ships more than during the same period last year.
