Lithuania bans broadcasting of Russian TV channel

On Monday, 13 April 2015, a 3-month ban on Russian TV channel RTR Planeta broadcasting has taken effect in Lithuania, informs LETA/ELTA.
The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) made a decision to temporarily suspend broadcasts of RTR Planeta because the channel' show Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov, which was broadcast on 18 January 2015, was found to have incited hatred and published biased information.
Similar information was disseminated by the cannel for the second time in less than a year. Based on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the Law of Provision of Information to the Public, the LRTK might have suspended broadcasts of RTR Planeta for a period of one year or even longer.
