Rimi Eesti to bring all Saatumarkets under own brand by end-2017
"We have converted almost all Saastumarkets to Rimis. On Wednesday we will open the 30th store converted to Mini Rimi in Kivioli. During the month of November two stores situated at Tapa and on Pae Street in Tallinn will be refurbished," Rimi Eesti PR chief Katrin Bats told BNS.
"In addition we will close the XL Saastumarket in Tallinn for an overhaul to open it as a Rimi supermarket at the beginning of December," Bats said. Besides, a Rimi store will be reopened in the Nautica shopping mall still this year.
Rimi announced in 2016 a decision to drop the Saastumarket (Saver Market) name and concept and to convert Saastumarket stores to stores of the Mini Rimi concept. Eight stores were to be closed in the process.
"The whole process of turning Saastumarkets into Mini Rimis has gone as planned. We closed exactly as many stores as we planned and we will complete the project by the end of the year," Bats said.
Bringing Saastumarket stores under the Rimi brand costs 4.5 million euros.
Rimi Eesti Food AS is wholly owned by Rimi Baltic AB, a holding of ICA Gruppen AB of Sweden.
