Profit of Maxima Latvija grew by 17% in 2008

Profit for the retailer Maxima Latvija reached LVL 15.94 million in 2008, which is a 17% increase on the results of 2007, when the enterprise earned LVL 13.68 million in profit, as the Registry of Enterprises' Lursoft data reveals.

The company's turnover was LVL 426.29 million last year, which is 20% more than in 2007, when the company achieved LVL 354.24 million in turnover.

 

Last year, the Maxima retail chain continued to expand in Latvia's regions, opening seven new stores in Dagda (eastern Latvia), Saldus (southern Latvia), Ikskile (central Latvia), Limbazi (northern Latvia) and Madona (northeastern Latvia). Altogether, Maxima operates 127 stores in Latvia, and employs 6,500 person in the country, informs LETA.

 

Altogether, Maxima has 433 supermarkets – 127 stores in Latvia, 231 stores in Lithuania, 51 stores in Estonia, and 24 stores in Bulgaria.

 

As reported, profit of Maxima Latvija reached LVL 13.68 million in 2007, which was a threefold increase on the results of 2006, when the enterprise gained LVL 5.62 million profit.

 

Turnover of Maxima Latvija in 2007 totaled LVL 354.24 million, which was 21% more than in 2006, when the figure was LVL 290.73 million.
