Aripaev interviewed most prominent Estonian business executives to find out the business achievement of the year 2009 in Estonia, and majority of them named opening of Solaris centre in Tallinn as the leading event, BBN/LETA reported.

"In my opinion, the year's most important event was the opening of the Solaris centre," said Indrek Jürgenson, the CEO of gaming enterprise Olympic Entertainment Group. "Emotions about Solaris can vary, but it was clearly a very important event for Tallinn and for Estonia in general. At the time when many developments are frozen or still on paper, the completion of such a large and multi-functional centre is worthy to receive the business achievement of the year award."

Valdur Laid, the chairman of telecommunications company Elion, says that brothers Rebased who managed the Solaris development project deserve credit since in spite of criticism about the building's architecture, it has quickly become an important business and leisure centre.

Also Heiki Einpaul, the CEO of Hekotek, believes that the opening of Solaris was the business event of the year.

Solaris cost 1.2 billion to build. Its main attractions are the modern Nokia Concert Hall, Cinamon multiplex cinema, an arts film centre, cafes, restaurants and stores.
