Value of Latvian furniture exports fell by 24.1%, value of imported furniture down 60.1% in 10 months

Furniture worth LVL 42.6 million was exported from Latvia in the first ten months of the year 2009, which is 24.1% less than in the same period of 2008, whereas furniture imports totaled LVL 19 million – a 60.1% fall year-on-year, as the Agriculture Ministry informed the business information portal Nozare.lv.
Latvian furniture exports to Germany totaled LVL 8.68 million – a 24.2% decrease on the first ten months last year, whereas exports to Denmark reached LVL 4.32 million – a 34% fall, reports LETA.
Latvian furniture exports to Great Britain fell 24.3% to LVL 4.45 million, exports to Lithuania dropped 45.4% to LVL 2.44 million, and exports to Estonia fell 40.5% to LVL 2.56 million.
On the other hand, furniture worth LVL 3.87 million was imported from Poland in the first ten months this year, or 67.5% less than in the same period of 2008. Furniture imports from Lithuania totaled LVL 2.13 million (67.4% down), furniture imports from China reached LVL 1.5 million (71.7% down), and furniture imports from Italy – LVL 3.47 million (32.9% down).
