Puratos wants to develop Pure Food preservative-free fruit fillings
Pure Food has found a way to keep fruit and berry fillings fresh without the use of preservatives, explained Peel. The company's products are in great demand with confectionery makers, because consumers prefer food that is made without using preservatives, writes LETA.
In order to develop closer cooperation with bakeries and confectioneries, which wish to offer their clients healthy and "clean" products, Puratos will strive to further develop Pure Food business of gathering, buying and processing forest berries.
Pure Food will play an important role in Nordic region, also in Western Europe, believes Peel. Puratos hopes to supply Pure Food non-preserved fillings to major baked goods companies, he said.
The acquisition of Pure Food is Puratos first production facility in the Baltic countries, which will consolidate Puratos positions in the Baltic countries significantly, said Peel.
He went on to say that Pure Food management and staff were considered one of the values bought along with the company, and that no changes were planned at Pure Food in this regard.
Board chairman Aigars Balodis will stay in his job, as will the entire management team, said Peel.
Puratos is an international group producing ingredients for the bakery, patisserie and chocolate sectors with a specific focus on artisans, retailers and industrial clients.
With a turnover of EUR 1.1 billion (LVL 770 million), Puratos has a global presence in over 100 countries, with 53 production sites. The company's headquarters are located in Brussels.
