Estonia and Israel agreed upon research cooperation

Estonian prime minister Andrus Ansip had a meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his official visit to Israel on Tuesday, during which bilateral research cooperation and exchange of one science expert in IT, pharmacy or medicines sphere was agreed upon, the government's press department informed LETA.

"Both Estonia and Israel excel in technological and environment friendly innovations and high level research and development centres," said Ansip. "We see good prospects in the cooperation of the two states research and development centres, primarily via exchanging experts."

 

Ansip had a meeting also with Israeli president Shimon Peres. Ansip said that Estonia's Jewish community is strong and has always had an important place in Estonian economic and culture life. The officials also discussed recent events in the Middle East.

 

On Monday, Ansip had a meeting with Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Liberman to discuss the situation in the Middle East and foreign political developments.
