Lithuania's PM: construction of national stadium to be continued

During the Government's Strategic Committee's sitting on Friday, it was decided to continue the construction of the national stadium in Lithuania. Such a proposal was made by the Ministry of Finance, reports LETA/ELTA.

According to Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, such a decision was made having got familiar with the presented calculations. The Ministry of Finance was charged with the duty to arrange the documents, to turn to the European Commission (EC) and to ask about the possibility to fund the project as the higher-value project (as a EUR 50 million project).

 

Butkevicius highlighted that, at that moment, LTL 100 million (EUR 28.9 million) had been already invested in the national stadium and that LTL 370 million (EUR 107 million) – LTL 100 million (EUR 28.9 million) – for the facilities and LTL 270 million (EUR 78.2 million) – for the construction of the national stadium.
