Estonian farmers are one of the most reliable client groups for banks, for the reason that they have not yet found themselves in great difficulties, the Ministry of Agriculture of Estonia reported.

In case of need for financing, most of Estonian farmers even in current problematic situation could go to banks to ask for financial help, and they do not have to be afraid of automatic rejection, as was announced at the meeting of Estonian Banking Association Chairman Aivar Rehe, Minister of Agriculture Helir-Valdor Seeder, Minister of Finance Ivari Padar and Chairman of Rural Affairs Committee of the Parliament Kalev Kotkas.

According to Seeder, neither the producers, nor industries can forget that currently keeping the payment disciplines is very important in communicating both with banks, lease companies, as well as with each other, in order to prevent chain arrears.

"The transfer of one producer's difficulties to another can be fatal for the entire sector," said the Minister.

According to Kotkas, the incentive for the meeting was the wish to ensure the development of the agricultural sector also during difficult times. The representatives of the state and banking agreed to cooperate and decided to develop monetary solutions by the beginning of spring field works.
